Olivia gay 03 hdredRecognized for his outstanding musical commitment, curiosity and precision of his game, Olivia Gay is one of the bright young generation of French cellists.

Born in 1987 in Mulhouse, she went to school in Belfort, and then in Strasbourg and Paris, where she enjoys the teachings of Marc Coppey, the Ysaÿe Quartet or Paul Meyer and Eric Le Sage, in chamber music. She then moved to Germany, where she completed her studies with Jean Guihen Queyras, Stuttgart and Freiburg before joining the soloist Johannes Moser class in Cologne.

Winner of several international awards  : the Flame competition, Glazunov, Padua or the Masterplayers International Music Competition, an international competition of Gerardmer and Leopold Bellan. She is laureate of the Cziffra Foundation.

Olivia Gay occurs for the first time in 14 years soloist in the famous  Concerto in C M  Haydn and then interprets the great opus directory along with several orchestras including La Follia, Brahms chamber ensemble, the Orchestra of Padua, the Talich Orchestra Prague ... for her, the scene is above all a human experience. Its various chamber music partners acknowledge its "considerable instrumental capabilities"  coupled with a  "strong presence and an attractive personality" (Gary Hoffman), underscore its "great curiosity and constant need for perfection" (Henri Demarquette) his play "away from all clichés or standard reproduction" . (Jean-Guihen Queyras).

Refined chamber musician, Olivia gave numerous recitals in France and abroad (USA, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Holland, Greece ...) accompanied by such performers as pianists Natacha Kudritskaya, Célimène Daudet, Yves Henry , violist Bruno Pasquier, flautist Philippe Pierlot or quartet Arpeggione ...

It could happen to Salzburg festivals, Colmar, classic Cully, the Chopin Festival in Nohant, Carnegie Hall, the Salle Cortot or to hotel Soubise.

Passionate romantic repertoire, Olivia Gay also preserves a strong tropism for the contemporary repertoire. She made her first recording as a soloist with the orchestra Pasdeloup at the Philharmonie de Paris in the concertos P. Hersant, P. Vasks and T.Maillard and sees the opportunity to lend a cello G.Grancino 1697 by the Maggini Foundation.
