French Cellist of many talents, David Louwerse is passionate about every form of musical creation. Recipient of several first prizes from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique of Paris and of the Lugy G. Moses Fellowship Awards from the Yale School of Music, he is currently lead cellist of the l’Ensemble Variances under the direction of composer Thierry Pécou.

He regularly performs with violinists Virginie Robilliard and Liana Gourdjia, violists Vinciane Béranger and Cecilia Bercovitch, cellist Caroline Tref, double bassist Laurène Durantel, pianists François Daudet, Frédéric Vaysse-Knitter, Sabina Stanojevic, and Thierry Pécou, as well as saxophonist Nicolas Prost, clarinettist Carjez Gerresten and flutist Anne Cartel.

He’s also playing and recording with bandoneonist Guillaume Hodeau in a Barocco-Tango series of concerts revisiting baroque and tango pieces.

David Louwerse performs as a soloist and chamber musician in France: Opera of Lyon, Maison de Radio-France in Paris, Arsenal of Metz, Lille Piano Festival, Détours de Babel in Grenoble, Les Journées Musicales in Dieulefit, Flam’ Festival in Blaye, Art Theater of Rouen, Rostropovitch Auditorium of Paris, Ault en Musiques! in Ault, Offenbach Festival of Étretat, Nocturnes of the cathedral of Rouen, Ambronay Festival, Cathedral of Riez… In Canada and in the USA: Bourgie Hall of Montreal, Vancouver-Ottawa Chamber Festival Music on Main, Bargemusic in New york, Ferst Center for the Arts of Atlanta, Seattle Town Hall; in Asia in Taipei, Kaoshung and Yilan. As well as in many European cities: Unerhôrte Music of Berlin, Hambourg Festival Arabesque, Schloß Sanssouci of Potsdam near Berlin, Gregynog Music Festival, St John Smith Square of Londres, St Georges Church of Bristol, Lisinki Hall of Zagreb, Ossiach Festival of Villach in Austria…

He is also artistic director of the Festival Ault en Musiques ! programmed the first week-end of July each year in the au Baie de Somme in northern France.
