Clara Ponty belongs to a new generation of singer-songwriters who embrace an eclectic approach to their art and inspiration. Born in Paris and raised in Los Angeles in an environment open to all kinds of music (her father, classically trained, is the famous jazz violinist and composer Jean-Luc Ponty), she showed exceptional musical talent from a very early age. As a child, she composed her first pieces for piano; as a teenager, she attended the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy (Michigan) before completing her classical training at the Maryland Conservatory, UCLA and the University of Southern California under the tutelage of great masters. Her first solo piano albums, released by Universal Music in New York, earned her international recognition for her unique artistic vision, in which the classical tradition becomes a space for poetic reinvention. Her playing, both virtuosic and introspective, reveals a deeply personal approach to the piano. Following several albums acclaimed for their sensitivity and musical richness, Clara Ponty now returns to a resolutely classical inspiration with *Handel Reimagined*, due for release on 1 May 2026 on Brilliant Classics/Neo Classics. This recording brings together nine compositions arranged for solo piano, inspired by the great works of Georg Friedrich Handel, revealing a personal and poetic interpretation of the Baroque composer.
On this subject, she says:
“Music can serve a higher purpose than mere pleasure, happiness or entertainment. That is the true power of music and musical imagination; I believe it can be harnessed to foster a collective harmony that makes the world a better place – a harmony that inspires my music and my life, and to which I dedicate myself.”
