A WALK WITH FRANCOIS COUPERIN
Francois couperin

Known for her sensitive and profound interpretation of music, Marseilles pianist Amandine Habib has chosen to explore the Baroque world of François Couperin, bringing light and finesse to the complexity of his music.
This recital represents a rare opportunity to hear Couperin's music performed on the piano, an instrument that did not exist in its modern form at the time of the composer. Amandine Habib takes up this challenge, using her in-depth understanding of musical language to transcribe the richness of the baroque keyboards onto the modern piano. Her approach, which combines respect for historical authenticity with innovation, allows us to rediscover Couperin in a whole new light.

Programme
Pieces by F. Couperin mirrored with pieces by C. Debussy, JS. Bach and Louis Couperin, the uncle of François le Grand.

AROUND BACH

Cd bach

On my first trip, after three weeks in the jungle of Laos with no piano and no classical music to listen to, I started humming Bach preludes in my head. And every time I travel, Bach's music is always the first thing to come back and swirl around in my head.

From those moments in the jungle and my encounters with the ethnic groups who live there, I retain luminous sensations, colours, sparkling laughter and very strong smells (rain, chlorophyll, animals, smoke...). This environment still moves me violently because it takes me back to primordial feelings, to the very essence of life. Because for me it embodies vital energy, a spiritual quest, great luminosity and a love of others and of Life, Bach's music resonated as I walked.
The experience was an obvious one, and my first album would be devoted to it!

DUET WITH THEO OULD

Theo ould

Théo Ould calls his accordion a magic lantern. Amandine Habib could just as easily call her piano one. These magic lanterns have illuminated the careers of these two exceptional artists. Born in Marseilles like Amandine, Théo, revelation of classical music 2023, brings a refreshing touch by revisiting the repertoires of the past in a personal and enthusiastic way.
Amandine, the recipient of numerous distinctions, pushes her instincts as a musician from the classical masters towards the marvels of all the arts.
What will they do together when they meet their lanterns? ‘Light, of course, light for our emotionally starved souls and ears.
Théo Ould on accordion and Amandine Habib on piano at the Festival Les Musicales du Luberon on 16 March in Apt.

Johann Sebastian Bach, the man who, through his genius, spoke to God, spoke of God, while firmly believing in man: Bach, the Humanist!
Starting with the compositions of the Leipzig cantor, pianist Amandine Habib and saxophonist Raphaël Imbert have chosen to explore what is known as ‘forbidden’ music, the ‘Entartete Musik’: Bach the Humanist visiting a troubled period in the history of the 20th century with committed composers such as Berg, Bartok, Eisler, Zemlinsky... and songs written in concentration camps.
An assembly of music punctuated by moments of improvisation where a classical musician meets a jazz musician... A great prayer, a celebration of life full of hope! Le Haïm ! Here's to life!
